Former head of Adjara summoned for questioning

Clashes between the activists of the "Georgian Dream" youth organization and supporters of the "National Movement" occurred on Friday due to the call of the former head of the Government of Adjara Levan Varshalomidze for questioning by investigative service of the Ministry of Finance of Adjara. It started with a verbal sparring turning into a fight between sides.

Clashes between the activists of the "Georgian Dream" youth organization and supporters of the "National Movement" occurred on Friday due to the call of the former head of the Government of Adjara Levan Varshalomidze for questioning by investigative service of the Ministry of Finance of Adjara. It started with a verbal sparring turning into a fight between sides.

"Georgian Dream" activists were shouting insulting statements at Varshalomidze, claiming that he was selling lands in Adjara for one lari and must answer for that.

Varshalomidze commented briefly to journalists, saying that he had been called on the privatization process. According to Varshalomidze, he is called for building "a new beautiful Batumi."

National Movement supporters, including a member of Georgian parliament Mikheil Makharadze, Chairman of sakrebulo (city council) of Batumi Giorgi Kirtadze and deputies of the Supreme Council of autonomy from the former ruling party, gathered in front of the Investigation Service.

Activists of the "Georgian Dream" and the National Movement gathered almost simultaneously. Currently, there are approximately a hundred people in front of the Investigation Service.
