A search is underway for three missing Russian tourists on the mountains of Georgia. As representatives of the municipality of the Kazbegi region (Eastern Georgia), which is located close to the Georgian-Russian border, told reporters, four tourists from Moscow this morning were caught in an avalanche on the Mkinvartsveri mountain peak.

A search is underway for three missing Russian tourists on the mountains of Georgia. As representatives of the municipality of the Kazbegi region (Eastern Georgia), which is located close to the Georgian-Russian border, told reporters, four tourists from Moscow this morning were caught in an avalanche on the Mkinvartsveri mountain peak.

As the municipality representative said, it was possible to rescue the fourth member of the tourist group, a teenager. He reported the incident to rescuers.

The teenager was taken to hospital with frostbitten fingers, but his life is not in danger. According to the rescuers, the people caught in the avalanche are probably already dead.

The Russian tourists set out to conquer the Mkinvartsveri mountain peak on Jan.2.

Initially there were delays in the search for the missing tourists due to severe weather conditions. Now rescuers are ready to start search operations for the missing climbers.
