Paying compensation to the population of the Kakheti region (Eastern Georgia), affected by the disaster in the summer of 2012, will begin on Monday, Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure told Trend.

Paying compensation to the population of the Kakheti region (Eastern Georgia), affected by the disaster in the summer of 2012, will begin on Monday, Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure told Trend.

Many houses, as well as part of crops suffered as a result of the heavy rains, hail and storm on the night of July 19, 2012 in Kakheti. In particular, according to preliminary estimates, 80-100 percent of the crop was destroyed on 11,000 hectares.

It is assumed that approximately 28,000 families will receive compensation. Cartu International Charity Foundation ensures payment of compensation.

According to the Ministry, on Monday, lists of beneficiaries will be submitted to the Cartu Bank, where their account will be opened, and the sum will be entered in the account step-by step on Tuesday. On average, they will get 6,000-8,000 lari ($ 1 = 1.66 lari).
