400 American marines have been sent to Georgia for participation in the Georgian-American joint military exercise 'Fighting Spirit - 2013' on March 11. This exercise is the third such held in Georgia.

According to a decision of the Georgian command, the soldiers of the 23rd battalion of the 2nd Infantry Brigade will take part in the exercise together with the Americans. This battalion returned from Afghanistan without losses in November last year.

The military exercise is taking place in Georgia from March 11 to April 5 at the Vaziani military firing-ground.

It is the first case of an arrival of such a significant number of American soldiers in Georgia after the change of power in the country.

The soldiers will learn coordination measures in wartime similar to operations in Afghanistan where Georgian militants are dislocated in the responsibility zone of the USA and carry out joint operations with American troops.
