Georgia’s Foreign Ministry: Issue of NATO membership to be decided by alliance
Georgia, Tbilisi, June 5 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /
The issue of NATO membership will be decided on by the alliance itself and the candidates for accession to the alliance, Georgia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Maia Pandzhikidze said on Wednesday in Washington in response to the statement made by the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev during his visit to Norway that Russia will always respond to the entry of neighbouring countries into NATO.
According to Pandzhikidze, nothing new was said by the Russian Prime Minister.
"Such statements have been made at all times. We continue on our way. The issue of NATO membership will be decided on by the alliance itself and the candidates for accession to the alliance," the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia said.
No other state according to her, can interfere with this plan.
"We know exactly what we are doing. Integration into NATO is one of the main priorities of our foreign policy," Pandzhikidze said.
