Georgia, Tbilisi, 8 July / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /

This week during an extraordinary session the Georgian parliament will attempt to override the veto of President Mikheil Saakashvili on two bills, broadcasting and natural gas and electricity.

Parliamentary committees have already discussed the comments of the president regarding the amendments to the law on broadcasting and according to preliminary information; the question will be put for consideration at the meeting on July 12. As for the law on natural gas and electricity, the president's comments will be considered at the same session.

The president has four comments on the draft law on broadcasting. They mainly relate to the long term cessation of powers of both the members of the Board of Trustees of the Georgian Public Broadcaster and the board itself. Saakashvili believes it is necessary to keep the existing rule that provides a higher quorum for this.

The president vetoed the draft law on natural gas and electricity which provides for the appointment of members and a chairperson of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission by the prime minister, but not by the president.
