The law "On changes to Electoral Code", signed by Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili was posted on website of "Legislative messenger".
In accordance to the changes, instead of Security Council, the Interdepartmental commission to provide free and fair elections will be subordinated to the Ministry of Justice.
The new structure of the Commission was approved in accordance to the decree of the Minister of Justice. The Ministry of Corrections and Defense Ministry were added to the Commission's structure. Around 10 members joined the Commission. The Commission will be managed by Ministry of Justice.
In order to provide the transparency of the Commission's activity, the representatives of local and international observing organizations will be invited to the meetings. The Commission will continue cooperation with qualified election subjects, as well as representatives of other political parties and election blocks, which will use the right of advisory vote.
