Representatives of the leader of the Georgian Democratic Movement and ex-parliamentary speaker, Nino Burjanadze, submitted an application to the CEC for her registration as the country's presidential candidate.
The representative of the movement Gia Kobakhidze stated that they are confident of the victory of their candidate in the elections.
"Burjanadze enjoys a lot of popularity among the Georgian population, therefore she should win the presidential election," he stressed.
To date around 36 applications for participation in the presidential election were submitted to the Georgian CEC. Two have already been officially registered.
All presidential aspirants must submit the signatures of 26,234 voters till September 7. The registration of presidential candidates will be completed on September 17.
Presidential elections in Georgia will be held on October 27.
