On Tuesday the Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili awarded for the contribution to Kutaisi Airport construction the project authors and architects. Deputy Giorgi Karbelashvili and Dutch architect was awarded the Order of Light, and nine other members of the project - the Order of Honor.
At the awards ceremony the President stressed the strategic importance of Kutaisi airport and paid special attention to projects that could not be completed under the previous government.
According to the Georgian President, the new government tries "to ruin" Kutaisi as city. This is shown by the idea of returning the parliament to Tbilisi (now the Georgian parliament meets in Kutaisi). At the same time, according to the president, with the advent of the "Georgian Dream" the era of construction was replaced by the era of destruction.
"I'm proud of this airport and the people who did it. We were just on time with the airport, which is a product of the era of construction, which has been replaced by the era of destruction. Tomorrow Kutaisi will be ruined as a city. New project in Tbilisi, which would facilitate the life of the city, was stopped, as well as the main project Samegrelo - Lasik, the main prospect of Batumi and Georgia - Batumi University of Technology. By tomorrow's vote it is expected to move the parliament from Kutaisi, which means trying to throw down with a single shot Kutaisi, which rised high. I think it will not work. This airport is a symbol of future of Kutaisi," Mikheil Saakashvili told.
