The second round of political consultations between the Foreign Offices of Georgia and Australia was held in Georgia's Foreign Ministry, the country's Foreign Ministry told Trend on Tuesday.

The Georgian side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister David Djalagania and the Australian side by the head of the European division of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Jeremy Newman.

Current issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and future prospects including the necessity of paying high level visits and the improvement of a bilateral legal base were discussed during the consultations.

The Australian side was thoroughly updated with the current processes in Georgia, the upcoming presidential election, the European integration process and the situation in South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
