Georgian state institutions spend up to 90 million laris for road-vehicles purchases

Various Georgian state institutions purchased 2,146 motor vehicles for a total amount of 61,439,788 laris ($1 = 1.66 lari) $16,545,081 and 110,000 euros from January 1, 2011 to July 2013, according to Georgian Young Lawyers Association's (GYLA) studies.

The study examined the cases of purchase of motor vehicles by the administration of the Georgian President, the parliament, the Office of the Government, all ministries and offices of ministers, as well as local self-governments institutions of Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Poti and Rustavi.

According to studies, the most expensive car was purchased by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in July 2012 for 110,000 euros.

Facts of purchase of expensive cars were also recorded in the local self-government of Rustavi, Office of the government, the Ministry of Finance, the Presidential Administration and other institutions.
