Ivanishvili nominates Georgian Interior Minister’s candidacy for Prime Minister’s post (UPDATE)

Prime Minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili has nominated Georgian Interior Minister, Irakli Garibashvili’s candidacy for the Prime Minister’s post.

Prime Minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili has nominated Georgian Interior Minister, Irakli Garibashvili's candidacy for the Prime Minister's post.

Garibashvili will be presented to the Georgian Parliament for approval, following Ivanishvili leaving his post on November 24.

Ivanishvili is leaving for the public sector, where he will control the government, according to him.

Ivanishvili said that Georgia being represented by Garibashvili will have a 'very worthy' Prime Minister, as well as President Giorgi Margvelashvili, who will take office on November 17.

"In the end we have got an effective government and executed the order of the people. We have a great power, and the Georgian society can be proud of it. And I am leaving for the public sector," he said.

Irakli Garibashvili graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and Universite Paris 1 - Pantheon Sorbonne.

In the past eight years he worked at the Cartu Group company, which is owned by Bidzina Ivanishvili and led the Cartu charity fund.

He has been Ivanishvili's supporter with his coming to politics. He is one of the leaders of the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia political party.

Garibashvili is married and has two children.
