By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend: The number of tourists visiting Georgia increased by 14.1 per cent in October 2013 compared to the same period last year, the Georgian Interior Ministry said today.
According to the information, around 4,556,110 visitors visited Georgia in January -October which is 23.7 per cent more than in the same period of 2012. This exceeded the total index for all 2012.
The largest number of tourists in October 2013 was registered in Azerbaijan (13.5 per cent more), Turkey (10 per cent more), Ukraine (58.6 per cent more), Russia (37 per cent more), Iran (26.7 per cent more) and Armenia (34.3 per cent more).
There is also a positive trend regarding tourists from EU countries. Alongside traditional tourists from Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria, there are also tourists from France, Italy and Germany. Kazakh citizens are the most active in Central Asia (39 per cent) and the Middle East - Israeli citizens (31 per cent). More Belarusian citizens visited Georgia (61 per cent more).
