Georgian president updates Commission on Pardons

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili has today introduced a list of new staff at the Commission on Pardons.
Representative of the civil sector, journalist Alexander Elisashvili became a new chairman of the Commission on Pardons. He replaced Elena Tevdoradze, who has held this position for the past few years.
Some incumbent committee members introduced by ex-President Saakashvili remained at the commission.
"Representatives of the civil sector, parliament and non-governmental organisations which will have direct contact with prisoners and make the correct decisions are represented at the commission," President Margvelashvili added.
The president stressed that the commission will have to work not only on the recommendations on a pardon, but also to update and change the body's structure.
