At the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius, Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili met with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti.
As the Georgian president press service said on Nov.29, during the meeting the sides stressed the importance of signing the association agreement between Georgia and the EU.
According to the statement, MargvelashvilI also expressed the readiness of Georgia to host the EBRD annual meeting of the Board of Governors.
In addition, the meeting noted the readiness of Georgia to continue reforms and fulfil the requirements of the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union. The sides also talked about deepening cooperation with the EBRD and the importance of the bank's participation in the further economic development of Georgia.
The EBRD president positively assessed his meeting with Georgian president.
"It was a preliminary meeting with the new president of Georgia. We discussed the bank's intensive interaction with the country. Over these 20 years about two billion euros has been invested in Georgia. This is a real partnership and we intend to continue in the future. I think there are many opportunities for the bank's collaboration with Georgia," Chakrabarti stressed.
