Around 13,000 people have been left without electricity in the Samegrelo region of western Georgia.

Strong winds cut the electricity cables, the emergency situation service under the Georgian Interior Ministry reported today. Crews are working trying to restore the power supply.

A landslide occurred as a result of torrential rain and wind on the main highway of the Keda municipality in Adjara where a four point storm is raging. All vehicular traffic has stopped.

Rescue teams have been mobilised, the head of Adjara's rescue service Mamuka Turmanidze said. Clearing operations are currently underway.
