Restrictions imposed again on Georgian roads due to bad weather

Tbilisi, Georgia, Dec. 17

By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Restrictions have been imposed again on Georgian roads due to adverse weather conditions.

The Department of Roads under Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia said that because of the snow and ice-covered ground, trailer and semi-trailer vehicles and buses with a capacity of over 30 people can move along the Mleta-Lars section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway using only tyre chains.

Other types of vehicles are permitted to freely move along the Mleta-Gudauri and Kobi-Lars sections. Movement along the Gudauri-Kobi section is permitted only using tyre chains. Vehicles with two or more driving axles can freely move along the section.

The movement of vehicles on the Gudauri-Kobi section will be carried out through avalanche tunnels. In particular, a one way direction of trailer and semi-trailer vehicles and buses with a capacity of over 30 people will be carried out through the tunnels.

This method of travel will be active under the immediate supervision of the patrol police. On other roads, vehicles can move freely.
