The EU Delegation to Georgia welcomes the government's decision to transform the apparatus of the State Ministry for Reintegration into the Ministry of Reconciliation and Civil Equality since January 1, 2014.
"The EU Delegation calls on the Georgian government to continue efforts towards pragmatic cooperation with Abkhazians and Ossetians," the statement released on Dec.20, said.
The document stated that the EU Delegation appreciates the efforts of all parties aimed at peace and reconciliation.
"The EU Delegation reiterates that EU ambassadors will continue their efforts towards deepening involvement of the peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. We believe that direct contacts between the victims of the conflict may play a great role in reconciliation," the statement said.
The intention of the Georgian authorities to transform the apparatus of the State Minister Zakareishvili was announced in late November.
