Georgia and Ireland discuss prospects of political and cultural cooperation

Chargé d'Affaires of Georgia in Ireland Giorgi Janjgava met with Secretary General of Foreign Ministry of Ireland David Cooney.

Janjgava handed Cooney a letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maia Panjikidze in which she invited the Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland and Foreign Minister of Ireland to Georgia.

The importance of the visit of the minister was stressed at the meeting, which showed Ireland's support for Georgian course towards Europe.

David Cooney welcomed the initialling of an association agreement with the European Union at the Vilnius summit of the Eastern Partnership and wished success to Georgia in the new stage of development .

The sides also discussed prospects of development of Georgian-Irish relations and the political and cultural cooperation. It was noted, that the Days of Georgian culture will be held in June 2014 in Dublin with the assistance of the Ministries of Culture of both countries. Parties expressed mutual readiness to deepen cooperation in the fields of culture, education and science.
