Movement restricted on several road stretches in Georgia due to bad weather

Tbilisi, Georgia, March 5

By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Restrictions have been imposed along several stretches of road in Georgia due to adverse weather conditions and motor vehicles are allowed to run only using anti-skid chains.

Due to snow and severe ice, motor vehicles with two or more driving axles can run on the Gudauri-kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars motorway, but other motor vehicles can run on this stretch only using anti-skid chains, Georgia Department of Transportation told Trend on March 5.

Movement on Gudauri-Kobi section is being carried out through anti-avalanche tunnels.

Trailers, semi-trailers and buses for more than 30 passengers are running through the tunnels in one direction and it is prohibited to stop the vehicles in tunnels.

Traffic is being regulated by police patrols.
