Tbilisi, Georgia, April 16
By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Two Georgian journalists were detained in the village of Adzvi in Georgian Gori district (zone of the Georgian- Ossetian conflict).

Journalists Bela Zakaidze and Vakho Lekiashvili were detained after they were on Tbilisi's uncontrolled territory, TV3 TV reported on April 15.

They planned to take pictures of the church. As a result of the so-called border operations on the contact line in the conflict zone, the church is located in the territory of the so-called South Ossetia.

The Georgian side has already informed EU observers about the incident.

Large scale military action was launched in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008. Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.

Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. In response, Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognized republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
