A delegation of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) has arrived in Georgia to assess the situation in the country on the eve of the municipal elections scheduled for June 15.
The information was provided by the NDI on April 28.
The delegation includes the former head of the EU delegation to Georgia, Per Eklund, former member of the International Relations Committee of the U.S. Congress and a member of the NDI Bureau, Sam Gejdenson, international elections and democratization expert for Democracy Reporting International (DRI) and Electoral Reform International Services (ERIS), Robert Adams, regional director of NDI for Eurasia, Laura Jewett and director of the NDI Georgian office, Luis Navarro.
The delegation members will meet with representatives of the Georgian authorities, international organizations, as well as leaders of political parties and candidates running for the local self-government bodies.
After completing its work on May 2, the NDI delegation will hold a press conference and will announce the main results of the assessment of the pre-election environment.
