NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has welcomed the signing of the European Union Association Agreement by Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
Rasmussen made a statement, in which he underscored the principles of the agreement that are fully shared by NATO.
The statement also said the agreement on the free and comprehensive trade with the three countries of the Eastern Partnership will significantly deepen political and economic ties.
"I welcome the signing of the EU Association Agreement by Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The agreement's paragraphs will facilitate the consolidation of freedom in Europe, stability and development. Such a close cooperation allows strengthening the rule of law, development of judicial reform, combating corruption, strengthening democratic institutions and respect for human rights and freedoms. NATO shares these goals and supports the cooperation with these and other partner countries," according to Rasmussen's statement.
