The official representative of the European Commission did not appeal to the Government of Georgia on the supply of Georgian agricultural products to Russia, the Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Otar Daneliya told Trend Aug. 25.

"Important and worthy of attention are statements officially forwarded to the Government of Georgia. No such request was received," he said.

Brussels earlier urged the candidates about to join the EU to refrain from exporting their products to Russia. A statement on the matter was issued by European Commission spokesman Peter Stano. Among these countries he mentioned Serbia, Albania, Turkey, Macedonia and others.

Georgia has already submitted a request to the Russian Consumer Control Service on expanding the list of products it can supply to the Russian market.
