Intensification of cooperation with United States enhances defense of Georgia

Intensification of cooperation with the United States primarily enhances security and the defense of Georgia, said the Minister of State for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia Alexi Petriashvili Sept.19, commenting on the decision of the Committee on Defense and Security of the Senate of the United States to support the resolution, in accordance with which the United States may grant the status of non-NATO ally to Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova.
"This is a very important political message. Georgia intends to bring its cooperation with the United States as the main political partner to a new level on all major destinations. And in the first place - in terms of strengthening security and defense, as well as in other areas, such as communication with the media, the economy, and others. It is also very important that Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova will together be recognized as USA allies," he said.
Earlier, the Committee on Defense and Security of the Senate of the United States supported the resolution, according to which the status of non-NATO ally may be granted to Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova.
