Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has met with the chairman of Turkey's Grand National Assembly (parliament) Cemil Cicek in Tbilisi.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the prospects for intensifying cooperation between the two countries, developing trade and economic relations and intensifying activities of the Interparliamentary friendship groups, press service of the Georgian prime minister told Trend on Nov.3.

Garibashvili said Turkey is the number one trade partner of Georgia.

Additionally, the sides emphasized the significance of the joint project for constructing the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which will expand the regional cooperation between the two countries in the trade and transport spheres.

The prime minister said that Georgia regards Turkey as a reliable ally and strategic partner and attaches great importance to its support to the country's integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures.

During the meeting, Garibashvili thanked Cemil Cicek for assistance in approving the program on teaching Georgian language in a number of Turkish schools for 2014-2015.

He said cooperation with Turkey in preserving cultural heritage is one of the priorities for Georgia.
