Georgian prime-minister dismisses defense Minister
Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov.4
The prime-minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili has dismissed the defense Minister Irakli Alasaniya, he said after meeting of the parliamentary majority.
He stated that the decision has been taken because Alasaniya had tried to politicize investigation of corruption in his department.
"The minister has made an irresponsible statement that there is a threat on Georgian Euroatlantic direction. He is trying to politicize investigation on the Defense Ministry, where a number of serious violations and corruption facts have been recognized. Instead of collaboration with the investigation, he allowed himself to politicize the situation. It is unacceptable," - he said.
Garibashvili stressed that he will not endure a minister who contributes his friends to hold tenders with violations and covers it, and can not even feed an army well in order to not to let soldiers get poisoned.
Prime-minister decided to dismiss Alasaniya in order to save depolicization of army and provide the country's security.
Garibashvili also stated that there is going to be a meeting of the council of ruling coalition "Georgian Dream", which also includes Irakli Alasaniya's party "Free Democrats".
According to the prime-minister, the post of the defense Minister will be taken by Mindia Djanelidze.
