Georgian-German military cooperation discussed in Tbilisi

Georgian Defense Minister Mindia Janelidze meets with German Ambassador Ortwin Hennig and military attaché, vice-Colonel Bernard Hop.

The sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the military sphere and further plans, the Georgian defense ministry said Nov. 14.

Janelidze thanked the German side for political support for Georgia and contribution to the development of the Georgian armed forces. He expressed the hope that the successful cooperation between Georgia and Germany to intensify in the military field.

"We will cooperate with Germany in two main areas," Janelidze said. "The first area is to improve the capabilities of our armed forces and relations in this direction. The second area is to cooperate in the implementation of our NATO aspirations. We agreed on the working regime and regular consultations. We hope to use these relations in the interest of our ministry."

Hennig expressed willingness for close cooperation.
