The unit of the fourth infantry brigade of Georgian armed forces has arrived in Afghanistan.
Georgian servicemen will fulfill their mission under German command at the Marmal military base in the northern province of Mazar-i-Sharif within six months, Georgian Defense Ministry told Trend on Dec.22.
Representative of the Georgian armed forces Colonel Joni Tatunashvili met the staff.
Georgian company will replace one of the German units in accordance with the principle of rotation. The official ceremony of handing over the mission will be held later.
The company of the fourth infantry brigade of Georgian armed forces was trained in Georgia for 13 weeks and in Germany for five months.
