Most of the passengers of the burning Italian ferry Norman Atlantic were rescued, the ship's captain left it last however, some people are missing.

Georgia's Embassy in Italy told Trend Dec. 30 that among the missing passengers there is a Georgian orthodox priest, Father Ilia Kartozia.

The remaining seven Georgian citizens, including a pregnant woman, are already in Italy.

The exact number of the evacuees is unknown, and available information is contradictory.

A microblog of the Italian Navy said 414 people and the bodies of eight dead were taken from the ship.

Earlier, it was reported that there were 478 passengers and crewmembers on the ferry.

The fire on the car ferry Norman Atlantic broke out Dec. 28, some 33 nautical miles from the Greek island Othonoi.

After some time, the ship lost control and began to drift towards the shores of Albania. Later, the ferry was taken in tow, and the fire was contained.
