By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Some 10 percent of medicine rose in price in Georgia, Georgian Deputy Health Minister Valeri Kvaratskhelia told the Georgian media.

He said that the medicine obtained from the dollar area, as well as from Russia and Belarus, rose in price.

"At present, this concerns a small volume of medicine, although we will monitor the situation," he said. "If we see that the prices have risen greatly, we will make a relevant decision."

He said that an increase in medicine prices is connected with an increase in the dollar rate.

It has increased by 14 percent for the last two months compared to the national currency - lari.

"If we see that the prices are increasing even more, in this case, we will take certain measures to stop the growth," he said. "But much depends on the dollar rate."

"In case of a force majeure situation, the Ministry of Health will deal with this issue," he said.
