The ruling Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party has elected its new chairman during the 4th congress, RIA Novosti reported.
Georgia's Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili was named the party's new chairman.
Earlier, the country's former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili headed the party.
On the eve of the 2016 parliamentary election, the parties in the coalition started to gradually withdraw from it and expressed intention to take part in the election on their own.
Following the voting in the congress, the Deputy Prime Minister Kakha Kaladze said that Giorgi Kvirikashvili has been unanimously elected the chairman of the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party.
