Georgia reports 6 new COVID cases, 3 imported

Georgia's pandemic response agencies reported six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, with half of them imported from abroad, Trend reports citing Agenda.ge.

Of the other three newly confirmed infections, one has been identified as a contact of a case identified during the previous days, Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of the National Centre for Disease Control, told local media.

Gamkrelidze also told reporters one of the cases was connected to the Gachiani Cluster identified earlier during the pandemic in the Gardabani Municipality. Professionals are still studying the final case of Sunday for tracing its origins.

The six new cases bring the number of active infections to 205, with five of them in critical or serious condition.

The figures also see the total number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic in February stand at 1,177, with 955 recoveries and 17 deaths.
