Georgia shares data on monthly salary of employees

The average monthly nominal earnings of employees in Georgia in 2020 increased by 5.4 percent or by 61.5 Georgian lari ($19.4), compared to 2019, and amounted to 1,191 Georgian lari ($376), Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The highest monthly earnings were observed in the following sectors, compared to 2019:

Financial and insurance activities – 2,156 Georgian lari ($680.6) – 6.2 percent increase;

Information and communication – 1,885 Georgian lari ($595) – 16.3 percent increase;

Professional, scientific and technical activities – 1,852 Georgian lari ($584.7) – 2.3 percent decrease.

The average monthly salary for women was set at 952.2 Georgian lari ($300.6) and 1,407 Georgian lari ($444.2) for men.

The annual wage growth was for women's salary was 9.6 percent and 3.4 percent for men. In the majority of sectors of the economic activities, the average monthly earnings of men were higher compared to women, Geostat reports.

The average monthly salary of employees in the public sector was 260.5 Georgian lari ($82.2) lower, compared to the employees in the non-governmental sector.

The salaries in the public sector in 2020 increased by 5.2 percent and amounted to 1,024 Georgian lari ($323.2) and by 6.1 percent in the non-governmental sector, amounting to 1,284 Georgian lari ($405.3).

The average monthly salary in the business sector has increased by 5.3 percent to 1,222 Georgian lari ($385.8). According to the types of activities, the highest salaries are recorded in the Professional, scientific and technical activities (2,102 Georgian lari ($663.6) – 0.1 percent decrease) as well as in the Information and communication (1,913 Georgian lari ($603.9) – 18.9 percent increase).

The average monthly salary in the non-profit and financial sectors increased by 6.3 percent in 2020, compared to 2019, and amounted to 1,135 Georgian lari ($358.3).

According to the economic activity, the highest monthly earnings were observed in the Financial and insurance activities as well as in the Other service activities sectors, Geostat said.
