Tourist inflow from Turkey to Georgia drops

The number of tourists from Turkey traveling to Georgia from January through October 2021 amounted to 261,289 visitors, which is a decrease of 12.3 percent, compared to 298,102 tourists over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.

The same indicator decreased by 73.7 percent in the reporting period of 2021, compared to first 10 months of 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic), when 994,076 people visited Georgia from Turkey.

Thus, Turkey ranks 1 among TOP-10 main countries of origin for tourists arriving in Georgia in the reporting period of 2021.

Meanwhile, 38,829 people visited Georgia from Turkey in October 2021, which is an increase of 89 percent, compared to the same period of 2020 (18,960 visitors), and an increase of 20.2 percent compared to September 2021 (32,281 visitors).

The total number of incoming international visitors to Georgia from January through October 2021 amounted to 1.5 million people, which is a decrease of 7.7 percent, compared to 1.6 million over the same period of 2020.

According to the statistics, the same index dropped by 79 percent in the reporting period of 2021, compared to 6.6 million over first 10 months of 2019.
