Georgia sees increase in official reserve assets

Georgia’s official reserve assets in December 2021 totaled $4.2 billion, which is an increase of 7.6 percent, compared to $3.9 billion over the previous month, Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

According to the NBG, the official reserve assets over the reporting period of 2021 also increased year-on-year ($3.9 billion in December 2020).

Meanwhile, the reserves in convertible foreign currencies out of total official reserve assets in Georgia in December 2021 amounted to $3.78 billion, which is an increase of 2.1 percent, compared to $3.7 billion over the same period of 2020, and an increase of 11.1 percent, compared to $3.4 billion in November 2021.

Meanwhile, the special drawing rights (SDRs) in the reporting period of 2021 accounted for $486.5 million of the total assets – an increase of 128.6 percent, compared to $212.8 million in December 2020.

The IMF’s reserve position in December 2021 amounted to $30.5 million, which is the same as in November 2021, although it slightly decreased by 2.8 percent year-on-year ($31.4 million in December 2020).
