Georgia records surge in tourist inflow from Iran

The number of tourists from Iran traveling to Georgia in November 2021 increased 327 times, compared to just 9 visitors over the same month of 2020, and totaled 2,945 people, Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.

However, the same figure decreased by 73.1 percent, compared to 10,954 visitors in November 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).

Thus, Iran ranks 11 among TOP-15 main countries of origin for tourists arriving in Georgia in November 2021, the report said.

Meanwhile, the number of tourists from Iran traveling to Georgia from January through November 2021 decreased by 13.7 percent to 14,698 visitors, compared to 17,041 people over the same period of 2020.

The same figure decreased by 88.9 percent in the reporting period of 2021, compared to the first 11 months of 2019, when 132,848 people visited Georgia from Azerbaijan.

The total number of international visitors to Georgia from January through November 2021 amounted to 1.66 million visitors, which is a decrease of 1.6 percent, compared to 1.69 million over the same period of 2020.
