An international conference on the repatriation of Mesheti Turks to Georgia will be held in Tbilisi on 27 April. The forthcoming conference will come as the last stage, which will be followed by the process of repatriation of Mesheti Turks to their historic lands, from where they were deported by the Stalin regime in 1944, Trend reports.
Organized by the Council of Europe Commission on protection of rights of national minorities and the Georgian government the forum will bring together representatives from societies of Mesheti Turks residing in different world countries. The same day it is panned to adopt a law on repatriation.
The conference will mull the places for repatriation of Mesheti Turks to the regions of Georgia, Kavkaz-Press reports.
