Georgia Attains Importance in Energy Security, President Says

(Prime-News) The ongoing conference Eurasian Energy Security: Market Access and Investment Policy is a proof of increasing importance of Georgia in energy security.

The corresponding statement was made by Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia, in his opening speech on Tuesday.

According to him, the two-day conference will be dedicated to the important issues on energy market, reports Trend.

Energy security is important for global economy, development of competition and diversification of sources of energy supply, through implementation of new pipelines for shipment of Caspian oil to the Europe, Mikheil Saakashvili said.

We must do our best for complete utilization of geological resource of the region. We should construct new alternative pipelines and infrastructure for transportation. The work, aimed at energy security, is not aimed at isolation of any party or against some country. All countries, engaged in these projects will have considerable profit, he added.

Reports by the international organizations speak for our achievements. Today Georgia is not corrupted country and according to EBRD is a leader in the Europe with regard to fight against corruption, Mikheil Saakashvili said.

Eurasian Energy Security: Market Access and Investment Policy Forging the Link started in Tbilisi on Tuesday.

The meeting brought together senior government officials, corporate executives and other key decision makers from around the world to consider the expanding role of Central Asian gas in Eurasian energy security and the development of an enhanced Southern Corridor of energy delivery.
