Despite the railways via Abkhazia being closed to us, Georgia will gain access to the European railway through Turkey, the Georgian President, Mikhail Saakashvili, stated during a dinner with businessmen, Trend reports.

We intend to link with Europe via the Turkish railway, which will pass through Bosporus, the President said, adding that nothing would prevent the realization of this project. It should be mentioned that under the pressure of the Armenian lobby, the U.S. Senate made a decision prohibiting American banks to finance this project which envisages combining the Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey railway system.

The Kars-Akhalkalaki project is estimated at $400 mln. Georgia will obtain the amount of $180 mln from Azerbaijan and Turkey to finance its share in the project.
