(www.civil.ge) - The EU is closely following developments in Russian-Georgian relations, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said in an interview with the Russian news agency Interfax published on February 5.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, EU Foreign Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Javier Solana launched their visit to Moscow on February 5.

Solana told Interfax that some improvement has been observed in Russian-Georgian relations, especially since Moscow sent its ambassador, Vyacheslav Kovalenko, back to Tbilisi.

We warmly welcome such developments. It is in everybody's interest that Russia and Georgia should have normal, friendly relations, Interfax quoted Solana as saying, reports Trend.
