President Of Georgia to meet with NATO Secretary General

( Prime-News ) - Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia, will meet with Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, Secretary General of the NATO, on Tuesday in Brussels.

Saakashvili left for Brussels on February 26 and conducted negotiations with Javier Solana, EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy. The sides discussed Georgia's integration into the European Union and issues related to the conflict resolution.

Javier Solana admitted after the meeting that the European Union was content with the reforms ongoing in Georgia and it supported territorial integrity of Georgia.

"These reforms are important and vital not only for Georgia, but for the whole region. Georgia approaches borders of the EU. The EU supports territorial integrity of Georgia and assists Georgia in the resolution of conflicts," remarked Javier Solana at the press conference held after the meeting with Mikheil Saakashvili.

Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia, evaluated the support of the EU displayed towards Georgia, as vital and crucially important.

"The EU supports the territorial integrity of Georgia and helps us to settle the conflicts. Besides this it is vitally important that we entered on a new stage of relation with the EU," noted Mikheil Saakashvili at the press conference.
