By Orkhan Quluzade – Trend:

Ankara believes the new US administration will not repeat the political mistakes of the outgoing administration in relations with Turkey, Turkish media reported citing the country’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

He made the remarks during the meeting of the 9th congress of Turkish ambassadors.

“Turkey hopes the US changes its policy in two issues: the first is on the extradition of Fethullah Gulen and his accomplices to Turkey,” said the foreign minister.

The second issue is on the termination of cooperation between the US and the People's Protection Units (YPG) terrorist group, which is part of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), according to Cavusoglu.

The Istanbul Court has earlier released an order to arrest Fethullah Gulen, who is accused of organizing the July 15 coup attempt in Turkey.

Ankara sent four documents to the US proving Gulen’s complicity in the military coup attempt and demanded his extradition.

The Turkish presidential administration has earlier told Trend that Ankara will do everything possible to extradite Fethullah Gulen from the US.

The US supports militants of the YPG terrorist group, who are members of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), in the fight against the “Islamic State” (IS) terrorist group.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has earlier said the supply of armament to the YPG by the US is unacceptable.

Also, Turkey’s Defense Minister Fikri Isik said the US, in order to fight the “Islamic State” (IS) terrorist group, chose another terrorist group – the PYD – as its ally. Because of that Turkey is suffering today, and the US itself will face problems in the future.
