The New York Times is reporting that Donald Trump made some horrifically racist statements. The newspaper describes an Oval Office meeting in June which found President Trump infuriated at the number of foreigners who had been allowed into the US since his inauguration.
More than 2,500 were from Afghanistan, a terrorist haven, the president complained.
Haiti had sent 15,000 people. They “all have AIDS,” he grumbled, according to one person who attended the meeting and another person who was briefed about it by a different person who was there.
Forty thousand had come from Nigeria, Mr. Trump added. Once they had seen the United States, they would never “go back to their huts” in Africa, recalled the two officials, who asked for anonymity to discuss a sensitive conversation in the Oval Office.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders of course denied that Trump made the statements, and the president’s supporters will likely dismiss them as lies from anonymous sources at the fake-news New York Times. But the fact that this totally sounds like something Trump would say is horrific enough. Merry Christmas everybody, this is the world we live in.
