Police recovers bounty of robbed Saudi princess

Italian police say they have recovered most of the jewelry that was stolen from the hotel room of a Saudi princess in Sardinia last month, AP reported.

Carabinieri police in Olbia said Tuesday the jewels were found last week on the island. They declined to give details, saying the investigation was continuing.

Burglars in August stole euro11 million ($15.5 million) in cash and jewelry from the princess' room at the luxury Colonna Pevero Hotel in Porto Cervo. The princess was not in the room when the robbers struck. She has not been identified by authorities.

The seaside village of Porto Cervo is a major resort on Sardinia's Costa Smeralda, or Emerald Coast. The area is a magnet for millionaires' yachts and is dotted with villas of the rich and powerful.
