A passenger who tried to hijack a Yemeni domestic flight on Saturday was brought under control, official news agency SABA reported.
No weapon was found with passenger, who had claimed to have a gun in his bag, SABA quoted an Al-Saeeda Airlines official source as saying.
The plane has safely landed on Ar-Rayyan Airport, some 777 km southeast the capital Sanaa, said the source, Xinhua reported.
"The man claimed to have a concealed weapon while the plane was preparing to take off," said the source, adding he "caused the plane to be quite clearly late for more than 60 minutes."
"The plane was en route from Sanaa to Ar-Rayyan, then to Aden. The passenger was trying to change the route of the flight from Sanaa to Aden," the source said.
The security forces of Sanaa International Airport arrested the suspect passenger on suspicion of trying to hijack the plane, said SABA, without providing more details of the man.
