The Egyptian government Wednesday allowed 85 international activists access to the Gaza Strip after protracted lobbying to enter the salient via an Egyptian border crossing for a humanitarian mission, dpa reported.

However, it is not clear if the activists - who are said to number 1,300 - will be satisfied with only a handful of their number being allowed access to Gaza Strip. Many have spent the last few days staging protests throughout Cairo at Egypt's decision to keep them out of Gaza.

Organizers of the Gaza Freedom March say say activists from 42 countries have come to Egypt to try to enter Gaza to deliver aid and to participate in a peaceful march protesting the closure of the Gaza Strip's borders.
