Seven killed in Coptic Christmas eve shooting in Egypt
At least seven people were killed and 10 injured in a drive-by shooting after Mass to celebrate Coptic Christmas in Egypt, a church source said Thursday, DPA reported.
Unidentified gunmen opened fire on the crowd was coming out of the church after the midnight Mass on Christmas Eve in Qena, some 650 kilometres south of Cairo.
Six Copts and one Muslim, who worked as security man for the church, were killed, the source added.
According to government figures, Christians make up approximately 10 per cent of Egypt's population, though many Christians say they believe the real figure is higher.
