The body of a man showing clear signs of torture was found in the Iraqi city of Kirkuk on Wednesday, police said.
The victim, Mahmoud Askar, is believed to have been a civilian, a police official told the German Press Agency dpa.
His body was found in an area used by pastoralists and farmers on the outskirts of the city, some 250 kilometres north of the capital Baghdad.
