Israeli F-16s fired missiles shortly after midnight Thursday into three Gaza Strip targets including a training camp for Gaza Hamas militants, medical sources and witnesses said, dpa reported.

The witnesses said they heard two successive blasts from a training post in northern Gaza City and one blast from an empty area south of the city.

Medical sources at Shiffa Hospital said that ambulances and rescue teams rushed to the targeted areas, finding four people with minor injuries.

The airstrikes came several hours after Gaza militants launched a homemade rocket from the Hamas-ruled territory toward southern Israel, where no casualties or damage was reported, according to Israel Radio.

Israeli officials had threatened that the Israeli army would respond to any homemade rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. No one claimed responsibility for the attack.

In December 2008-January 2009, Israel carried out a three-week war on the Gaza Strip to rein in militants who fired hundreds of rockets at Israel. Around 1,400 Palestinians and 11 Israelis were killed in the conflict.
